In a significant diplomatic engagement, Shri Vikram Misri, India’s Foreign Secretary, embarked on his first official visit to Mauritius from December 20-22, 2024. This visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s congratulatory phone call to newly elected Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, after his victory in the country’s parliamentary elections in November 2024
High-Level Meetings and Diplomacy
During the visit, Foreign Secretary Misri engaged with top Mauritian leaders, including President Dharambeer Gokhool, Prime Minister Dr. Ramgoolam, Deputy Prime Minister Paul Berenger, and Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ramful. In his discussions with Prime Minister Ramgoolam, Misri extended congratulations on his recent electoral success and reaffirmed Prime Minister Modi’s invitation for him to visit India.
