India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation is closely tracking the impact of rising tensions in West Asia on air travel between the region and India. Officials say airlines are adjusting their operations to maintain passenger safety and minimise disruptions.

According to government data, 40 inbound flights from West Asia arrived in India on March 5, carrying a total of 7,205 passengers. This brings the cumulative number of passengers arriving from the region during the current period of tension to nearly 15,000.

Authorities have also announced that around 51 flights were scheduled to operate on March 6, although these plans remain subject to changing conditions in the region.

The ministry said it is maintaining close communication with airlines and other stakeholders to manage flight operations effectively.

Officials are also monitoring ticket prices to ensure that passengers are not affected by sudden or unfair increases in airfares during the crisis.

In addition to managing flights, the government has established a Passenger Assistance Control Room that operates around the clock. The control room provides real-time help to travellers dealing with cancellations, delays or other travel problems.

So far, more than 1,400 passenger complaints and queries have been resolved through the AirSewa portal, social media platforms and helpline services

Earlier in the week, the ministry confirmed that more than 280 flights scheduled to operate by Indian airlines had been cancelled because of the evolving security situation.

The disruptions come after military strikes and retaliatory attacks escalated tensions across parts of West Asia.

Officials say the government will continue to monitor developments closely and provide updates as necessary. Passengers are advised to stay in regular contact with their airlines for the latest information on flight schedules and travel arrangements.
