India showcases agro, F&Bproducts at Gulf Food Manufacturing Expo in Dubai

India’s vibrant showcase at the Gulf Food Manufacturing Expo in Dubai has spotlighted the nation’s prowess in the agro and food industry. The event, spanning three days and concluding on November 9, featured 157 Indian exhibitors who demonstrated the country’s rich culinary heritage and diverse agro-based products. With the Indian Food and Beverages market surging from $299 billion in 2022 to a projected $620 billion by 2029, reflecting an impressive 11% growth rate, the expo provided a platform to display India’s potential on the global stage.

The India Pavilion, inaugurated by Consul General of India at Dubai, Satish Kumar Sivan, presented an extensive range of value-added agro products and packaged foods. Among the showcased items were basmati and non-basmati rice, spices, coarse grains, maize, groundnut, wheat, cereal preparations, processed vegetables, fresh fruits, and other value-added products. The exhibition also highlighted investment opportunities in various aspects of the food processing industry, including technologies, skills, equipment, canning, dairy, specialty processing, packaging, frozen food, refrigeration, and thermos-processing.

To strengthen its export presence in the global market, the Indian government has been actively diversifying its export basket. It has established 60 fully equipped agri-export zones (AEZs), along with 42 mega food parks and 128 cold chains, to boost agricultural and food processing exports. The country’s commitment to adhering to international quality and hygiene norms is evident in the radical shift underway in the food industry ecosystem, driven by technological advancements.

India has witnessed significant growth in exports, particularly in fresh fruit and vegetable exports valued at approximately $1.63 billion in 2022-23. Additionally, animal product exports reached about $4.04 billion, while cereal exports totaled $13.87 billion during the same period. Notably, India ranks third in global egg production and eighth in meat production, showcasing robust growth trends in these sectors.
