Over 32,000 Indian tourists visited Nepal in June as total air arrivals reached 76,425; Cumulative arrivals for 2024 dip slightly
India remained the leading source of air travellers to Nepal in June 2025, with 32,662 Indian tourists visiting the Himalayan nation, according to data released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). This reinforces the enduring strength of bilateral tourism ties between the two neighbours, reported cnbctv18.com.
In total, 76,425 international tourists arrived in Nepal by air during the month. The United States took the second spot with 9,696 visitors, overtaking China, which saw 6,736 arrivals, continuing a trend that began post-2021. China, once a consistent second from 2014 to 2020, now ranks third.
Bangladesh followed in fourth place with 5,449 tourists, and the United Kingdom rounded out the top five with 2,284 visitors.
“India has always topped the number of visitors coming to Nepal,” NTB noted, underscoring the consistent tourism flow from India
Cumulative Tourist Numbers Show Slight Dip
Between January and June 2024, 577,689 tourists arrived in Nepal by air, reflecting a 1% decline compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Nepal faced natural tremors during the same period. A magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck the Kotdanda area of Mugu district on Monday morning, less than 24 hours after a 4.8 magnitude quake hit Jima village in the same district. While both incidents caused no reported damage, they are reminders of Nepal’s seismic vulnerability.
