The newly launched website will streamline participant registration and provide comprehensive information on accommodations and event schedules, ensuring easy access for attendees planning their visit to Odisha
The Government of India has officially launched the website for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention, signaling the start of online registration for the event scheduled for January 8-10, 2025, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, hindustantimes.com reported.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar inaugurated the website (pbdindia.gov.in) in New Delhi on Tuesday, underscoring India’s commitment to its diaspora community of over 35 million people worldwide.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas serves as a flagship platform for connecting with the Indian diaspora and celebrating their contributions to India’s development. This year’s theme, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” reflects the pivotal role the global Indian community plays in advancing India’s goals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event, while President Droupadi Murmu will confer the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awards and preside over the valedictory session.
The website launch sets the stage for a significant gathering of Indian diaspora members, united in their commitment to contributing to a vibrant, prosperous India
Highlighting the government’s commitment, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of the Indian diaspora, noting how Prime Minister Modi’s regular interactions with Indians abroad reinforce the robust bond between India and its global community. He expressed confidence that the diaspora will continue to support India’s progress towards becoming a developed nation.
Chief Minister Majhi encouraged attendees to explore Odisha’s rich heritage, including its history, culture, and spiritual traditions. He invited the diaspora to experience Odisha’s hospitality and emphasized the unique experience awaiting them at the convention.
Additionally, the 2025 PBD convention will feature a special youth segment in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, aiming to foster connections with younger members of the diaspora.
