Priti Gupte, wife of the ambassador of India to Egypt, hosted a yoga event in Cairo as part of the celebration of 75 Years of India’s Independence and the ongoing Indian cultural month. The event took place at the Grand Nile Tower Hotel, Garden City in Cairo.
The event was attended by the spouses of other ambassadors and diplomats, some members of Indian diaspora and yoga lovers. The yoga session included short sessions on meditation, breathing exercises and yoga postures. Gupte mentioned that she was a regular practitioner of yoga and also explained the discipline’s benefits and importance, according to a report in Ahram Online.

The celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, or AKAM) is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate its independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The celebrations started on March 12, 2021 and will last till August 15, 2023.
Earlier in the year, the MACIC organised a bicycle tour around Zamalek in Cairo as part of the celebrations.
