Indian-American business leader Arun Agarwal appointed Chairman of Texas Economic Development Board

Arun Agarwal, an Indian-American entrepreneur and CEO of Nextt, has been appointed as the chairman of the Texas Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) by Governor Greg Abbott. This appointment reflects the increasing influence of Indian-American leaders in significant economic positions within the United States. The TEDC, in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, is tasked with promoting Texas as a premier destination for business, both nationally and internationally. Governor Abbott’s office emphasized that this appointment highlights Texas’s dedication to diversity and inclusivity in its economic leadership.

Agarwal brings a wealth of experience to his new role. As the CEO of Nextt, he manages a varied business portfolio that includes textiles, cotton trading, real estate, and sports management. He is also the chairman of the National Cricket League (NCL), USA, which has rapidly gained prominence. In addition to these roles, Agarwal serves as co-chair of the Indian American CEO Council, President of the Dallas Parks and Recreation Board, and is a board member of several notable organizations, including the US India Friendship Council, the University of Texas executive board, Texas Tech Innovation HUB, and the MD Anderson Board of Visitors.

Agarwal’s educational background is equally impressive, with an MBA from IMT Ghaziabad, a Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Southern New Hampshire University, and an advanced certificate in International Business from Harvard University.

Upon his appointment, Agarwal expressed his commitment to advancing Texas’s economic goals, stating, “I am honored to take on this role and drive forward Texas’s ambitious economic goals. I look forward to leveraging our state’s diverse talent and global connections to drive economic growth and enhance Texas’s prominence on the world stage.”
