The Consulate General of India in Dubai has played a pivotal role in assisting over 15,000 Indian citizens in regularizing their visa status during the UAE’s recent visa amnesty program, reported theindianawaaz.com.

This initiative, spanning four months, underscored the Consulate’s unwavering commitment to the Indian community in the UAE.

Throughout the program, the Consulate issued 2,117 passports and 3,589 emergency certificates while facilitating more than 3,700 exit permits. These emergency certificates, or outpasses, served as vital one-time travel documents for individuals without valid passports. Additionally, short-validity passports were provided to those intending to maintain a legal presence in the UAE. The program also extended its scope to include lost passport reporting, labor cancellations, and other immigration-related concerns, all supported by active collaboration with Indian diaspora organizations.

A notable achievement of this initiative was securing fee and penalty waivers for numerous individuals from UAE authorities. This collaborative effort not only eased financial burdens but also offered a fresh start for many who had been grappling with visa irregularities.

As the program concluded, the Consulate expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the UAE government for its cooperation and support. It also urged Indian citizens to strictly adhere to local laws regarding entry, work, and residency to avoid future complications. Reinforcing its commitment, the Consulate assured continued support for the Indian community in the UAE.
