In response to escalating tensions in West Asia, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that the Indian Embassy in Israel is actively engaging with Indian nationals to ensure their safety, reported middleeasteye.net.

At a press briefing on November 2, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that the embassy has maintained close communication with the Indian community in Israel, which numbers between 20,000 and 30,000 people. The MEA has issued updated travel and safety advisories as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the well-being of Indian citizens in the region.

The ministry reiterated its concern over the conflict, particularly following Israel’s precision strikes on Iranian military targets on October 26. This development has further strained regional peace, with repercussions extending across West Asia. The MEA expressed its position in a statement, calling for “restraint” and a return to “dialogue and diplomacy.”

  • The MEA’s continued efforts to engage with Indian nationals in the region aim to ensure their safety and provide them with the latest updates amid the rapidly evolving situation

“We are deeply concerned by the escalation in West Asia and the risks it poses to regional and global stability,” the statement read, underscoring India’s preference for diplomatic solutions over continued hostilities. The ministry also highlighted the detrimental impact of the conflict on civilian populations, as well as the suffering of innocent hostages caught in the crossfire.

The current situation follows recent cross-border strikes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. In early November, a Hezbollah rocket attack in the central Arab town of Tira injured eleven people. In retaliation, Israel targeted Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, resulting in multiple casualties, including high-ranking members of the group, according to reports from the Times of Israel.
