The Indian Embassy in Yemen marked India’s 77th Republic Day with enthusiasm, holding the celebration for the first time in more than ten years. The event, organised in Aden, brought together embassy officials and members of the Indian community, making it a moment of pride and unity for Indians living in the country.
Officials shared the milestone on social media, highlighting the significance of resuming Republic Day celebrations after a long gap. The Indian tricolour was unfurled as members of the diaspora joined embassy staff to commemorate the occasion, reflecting strong cultural ties despite challenging circumstances in the region. For many attendees, the event symbolised hope, resilience and continued connection with the homeland.

The 77th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi showcased the nation’s military strength, cultural diversity and democratic values
A special highlight of this year’s celebrations was the presence of European leaders as chief guests. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council Antonio Luis Santos da Costa attended the parade during their State visit to India, held at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from January 25 to 27.
Following the parade, Prime Minister Modi continued his tradition of walking along Kartavya Path, greeting spectators who had gathered to witness the celebrations. The ceremony concluded with President Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by the visiting European leaders, departing for Rashtrapati Bhavan under the escort of the President’s Bodyguard.
