In a gesture of compassion and solidarity, the Embassy of India in Muscat has inaugurated its annual Ramadan Blood Donation Drive, a vital initiative aimed at addressing the critical shortages faced by blood banks during the holy month of Ramadan.
The launch event was graced by Dr Thamara al Gafri from the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat.
Amit Narang, Indian Ambassador to Oman, interacted with the officials of the Ministry of Health and the donors on the first day of the week-long campaign. He exhorted people to take part in the noble cause.
The inaugural day of the drive witnessed a remarkable response, with 225 units of blood generously donated by individuals eager to contribute to this noble cause. Ambassador Narang underscored the importance of blood donation, particularly during Ramadan, emphasizing its potential to save lives and alleviate the suffering of those in need.
Scheduled to run until April 6, with exceptions on April 1, 2, and 3, the Blood Donation Camp offers convenient opportunities for participation at the Embassy Auditorium from 8 am to 2 pm and Bausher Blood Bank from 7 pm to 11 pm.
Recognizing the pressing need for blood donations, the initiative aims to address shortages faced by blood banks across the Sultanate of Oman, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
As the campaign progresses, the Embassy remains committed to facilitating a seamless donation process and encourages widespread participation to address the prevailing shortages effectively
The Central Blood Bank has highlighted the critical need for platelet donors, stressing the significance of their contributions in treating a wide range of medical conditions.
From patients undergoing chemotherapy to individuals requiring transfusions for severe bleeding or surgical procedures, platelets play a vital role in medical care. Additionally, the demand for platelets intensifies during Ramadan, necessitating increased community support to ensure an adequate supply for patients in need.
In light of this urgent requirement, the Indian Embassy in Muscat urged members of the Indian community and residents alike to participate wholeheartedly in the Ramadan Blood Donation Drive. By donating blood, individuals have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and contribute to the well-being of the community at large.
As the campaign progresses, the Embassy remains committed to facilitating a seamless donation process and encourages widespread participation to address the prevailing shortages effectively.
