45-year-old Krishna Nair from Kerala passes away while swimming at Muscat’s Kalbooh Park
A 45-year-old Indian expatriate engineer from Kerala, Krishna Nair, died on Friday, August 29, after suffering a heart attack while swimming at Kalbooh Park in Oman’s capital city, Muscat, reported siasat.com.
Krishna Nair, a native of Ramamangalam in Ernakulam, was employed with a consultancy firm in Muscat, according to Times of Oman. Alongside his professional career, he actively supported community sports. He trained children and residents at Kalbooh Park and was closely associated with the Alawi Swimming Academy, where he played a pivotal role in developing swimming programs.
The deceased, hailing from Ernakulam district, was known for his dedication to promoting swimming, fitness, and outdoor activities among the Indian community in Oman
Apart from swimming, Nair also organised cycling and trekking activities, earning respect as both a mentor and a fitness advocate within the expatriate community.
He is survived by his wife, Swapna, who works with the Kerala government, and their two children, Raghuram and Poornima. His mother, Sathi, resides in Kerala, while his father, Karunakaran Nair, had passed away earlier. Arrangements are being made to repatriate his body to Kerala.
In a tribute posted on Facebook, the Alawi Swimming Academy mourned his untimely demise, remembering him as their “beloved young captain” who selflessly dedicated his life to teaching swimming and inspiring fitness among many.
