Sana Shaji, 9, a Keralite student recognized by multiple record books in India and UK for her remarkable achievement
Sana Shaji, a nine-year-old girl from the UAE, has achieved a stunning feat by becoming the fastest in inline-skating 100 meters while simultaneously spinning a hula hoop around her waist in just 16.29 seconds, reported gulfnews.com.
A Record-Breaking Achievement Across Multiple Platforms
Sana, a student at Gems Our Own English School in Sharjah, has earned recognition in several prestigious international record books, including the British Book of Records (UK), International Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, India Book of Records, National Book of World Records, Champions Book of World Records, Kalam Book of World Records, and Talent Book of Records.
This incredible achievement marks another milestone for Sana, who had already made her mark in 2021, when at just six years old, she entered multiple record books for spinning a hula hoop around her waist for the longest time: 2 hours, 12 minutes, and 57 seconds.
A Year of Dedication and Hard Work
Achieving this new record wasn’t easy. Sana dedicated herself to intense practice, spending hours each day perfecting her skill in inline-skating while spinning a hula hoop. “It took me one year to reach this point,” she said.
Inline-skating was especially challenging, and Sana explained, “It’s really hard to balance while skating, especially with the hula hoop spinning.
“You need to be fast, or else the hoop will fall and it could also be affected if it is windy. I worked hard every single day to get better at it.”

Despite setbacks, including a painful injury where she required four stitches on her jaw, Sana never gave up on her goal.
Her perseverance paid off when she completed the 100m inline-skating challenge while spinning a hula hoop on February 22, 2025, in Sharjah, overcoming unpredictable weather conditions.
Beyond Skating: A Multi-Talented Young Star
Sana’s talents extend beyond skating. At just eight years old, she became the CBSE champion in 300m inline-skating in the under-10 category in the UAE, and she later represented the country at the CBSE National Meet in India.
In addition to skating, Sana is also a skilled gymnast, dancer, and martial artist. She has appeared in the Malayalam film Marco, directed by Haneef Adani, which has been released in multiple languages.
Her achievements are supported by her parents, Shaji KV and Smitha Shaji, who have been her pillars of strength throughout her journey. Her brother Sreenand also played a key role in teaching her the basics of hula hoop balancing.
Sana has also expressed gratitude toward her school, Gems Our Own English School, for their constant support in her ambitions. She thanked her teachers, including principal Asma Gilani and physical education teacher Shafeek Basheer, for their encouragement.
Looking Ahead: A Bright Future for Sana
As Sana prepares to enter Grade 4, she continues to balance her academic pursuits and extracurricular activities, with aspirations of becoming an international model. “If you work hard, you can achieve anything,” she said, inspiring others with her dedication.
