The recovery operation, led by the APF’s Mountain Rescue Centre, is expected to conclude shortly
After nearly three weeks of search operations, Nepalese security forces have recovered the bodies of two missing Indian tourists from the Manang district. The deceased were identified as 52-year-old Jignesh Kumar Lallubhai Patel and his 17-year-old daughter, Priyansa Kumari Patel.
According to the Armed Police Force (APF), the duo had gone missing on October 20 after leaving their hotel in Ngisyang Rural Municipality to visit the Maleripa Monastery. Their bodies were discovered buried under snow approximately 100 metres above the site by a rescue team led by Deputy Superintendent Hira Bahadur GC.
Officials urged trekkers to monitor local weather advisories and avoid high-altitude routes during unstable conditions
Severe snowstorms and changing Himalayan weather patterns complicated the search. The Manang district experienced heavy snowfall in October, leading to the closure of trekking routes and the rescue of more than 1,500 stranded tourists.
Authorities said the father-daughter pair disappeared before the Cyclone Montha effect intensified weather conditions across Nepal.
