American Airlines Flight 5342 collides with a US Army helicopter at Reagan National Airport
A daughter of Indian immigrants was among 67 passengers aboard American Airlines Flight 5342, which tragically collided with a US Army helicopter in a devastating crash at Ronald Reagan National Airport in the US on Wednesday night, reported gujaratsamachar.com .
Heartbreaking last message before the crash
Asra Hussain Raza, daughter of Indian immigrants in the US, sent a message to her husband, Hamaad Raza, 25, informing him that she would land in 20 minutes as American Eagle Flight 5342 approached Reagan National Airport.
Unfortunately, she did not survive the horrific crash, like the other 66 passengers on board.
Her husband of two years, Hamaad, revealed that he had replied to her messages, but they were never received.
A young life lost too soon
Earlier, Hamaad had reportedly expressed his desperation, saying, “I’m just praying that somebody’s pulling her out of the river right now, as we speak. That’s all I can pray for, I’m just praying to God,” while speaking to a US media reporter.
Asra Hussain, a native of Carmel, Indiana, graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and Policy. She later earned her master’s degree in healthcare management. She is survived by her husband, Hamaad Raza, who also attended IU from 2017 to 2021 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the prestigious Kelley School of Business.
According to her husband, she was returning from a work trip where she was ‘helping to improve a hospital that needed help’.
Hamaad’s words to the US media reflected deep sorrow as he remarked, “Life is short.” He urged people to ‘always hug loved ones’.
