Indian Minorities Federation marks Veer Bal Diwas at Dubai Gurudwara

DUBAI: The Indian Minorities Federation (IMF) commemorated Veer Bal Diwas at the Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Temple in Dubai, the first Sikh Gurudwara in the UAE, to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice of Chhote Sahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh. These younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh stood unwavering against tyranny at the tender ages of 7 and 9, symbolizing bravery and devotion to principles, inspiring generations worldwide. The event aimed to instill their legacy in the hearts of the Indian youth globally, reported prnewswire.com.

Veer Bal Diwas Bravery Awards Presented to 15 Indian Diaspora Children in UAE

During the event, IMF honoured 15 remarkable children from diverse communities and religions in the UAE with the Veer Bal Diwas Bravery Awards. This initiative was a tribute to the resilience, unity, and courage of Chhote Sahibzadas. The awardees represented various religious backgrounds, including 10 Hindus, three Sikhs, one Muslim, and one Jain, showcasing the spirit of harmony and inclusivity. Notable awardees included Taksh Jain, Vidyuth Balaji, and Gurkamal Singh, among others. The awards emphasize the importance of uniting youth across boundaries to uphold values of unity and resilience.

Prominent dignitaries graced the occasion, including Rajya Sabha MP and Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Deputy Consul General Yatin Patel, and Surender Singh Kandhari, Chairman of the Guru Nanak Darbar Sikh Temple. Attendees included Sikh community leaders, members of the Indian diaspora, and international representatives, emphasizing the global resonance of the event

Highlights of the Event

The program included an Ardaas, a ceremonial prayer for unity and peace, followed by Kirtan performances dedicated to the memory of Chhote Sahibzadas. A Langar was organized, embodying the Sikh tradition of selfless service and community

Speaking at the event, members of the Indian diaspora expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishing Veer Bal Diwas. They praised the initiative as a step to honour sacrifices of the past and inspire today’s youth to contribute to India’s progress with determination and unity. Satnam Singh Sandhu highlighted that Veer Bal Diwas, declared in 2022 by PM Modi, connects Indian youth with their heritage and inspires a sense of responsibility to protect and preserve India’s culture. He emphasized how the youth are central to achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047. Various government initiatives, including Startup India, skill development programs, and opportunities for research and innovation, are designed to empower young Indians to lead the nation into the future

Surender Singh Kandhari extended his gratitude to PM Modi for this historic decision. He remarked that the declaration of Veer Bal Diwas honours both the legacy of the Chhote Sahibzadas and the potential of today’s youth to drive India’s development. Kandhari added that the event motivates youth to emulate the spirit of sacrifice and dedication demonstrated by the Chhote Sahibzadas
