Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Justin Trudeau appointed Indian-origin Canadian politician Anita Anand as Canada’s new Defence Minister in a Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday. She replaced long-time defence minister Harjit Sajjan, also of Indian origin, news agency PTI reported.
Anita Anand, 54, has a deep background of corporate lawyer. Corporate governance is her key area of work, which refers specifically to the laws and rules in place to manage the operations of businesses, said the report quoting Global News.

Anand was first elected as a rookie Member of Parliament in 2019 and served as Procurement Minister during the peak of Covid-19 pandemic.
