An Indian-origin couple, Nikita and Karan, currently residing in Canada, alleged that their long-awaited European honeymoon turned traumatic after a Chinese man allegedly attacked them at Seehotel Schwert in Switzerland. The couple claimed the incident left them with serious physical injuries, post-traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety issues. Nikita said the assault caused permanent jaw damage and affected 12 of her teeth. The hotel, run by a Chinese family, has denied the allegations, calling them false and misleading, reported hindustantimes.com.

Couple alleges violent assault left permanent injuries

According to Nikita, the altercation began when the couple requested a fan as their room had no air-conditioning. The hotel staff allegedly behaved rudely, escalating tensions. On the day of checkout, Nikita claimed the same man ran toward her, shouting, before attacking both her and her husband. She alleged he punched and kicked them, threw a heavy ceramic mug at her face—knocking out one tooth and damaging 11 others—while also injuring her chin and lips.

  • Karan said he too was assaulted when they tried to escape through a back door. Eventually, with the help of bystanders, the couple contacted police and medical services

  • They said the attack forced them to cut short their 13-day trip and return to Canada early, incurring heavy medical expenses

Hotel calls allegations ‘misleading’

In response, Seehotel Schwert issued a statement denying the couple’s claims. The hotel alleged that Nikita and Karan were aggressive from arrival, demanded free services, and physically attacked a 60-year-old staff member. The hotel said the staff member acted in self-defense and sustained facial bleeding, a nose injury, and head trauma, requiring hospitalization. The management described the couple’s version as a “blatant reversal of reality” and confirmed they will never be welcomed back at the hotel.

Couple says ‘dream trip turned into nightmare’

The couple rejected the hotel’s defense and said they had pursued legal remedies. Nikita added that beyond the injuries, the ordeal left them traumatized. “This was our overdue honeymoon, something we had been planning for two years. Instead, it turned into a nightmare,” she said.
