A 29-year-old Fremont resident, Varun Suresh, has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly stabbing 71-year-old registered sex offender David Brimmer to death in a targeted attack on September 18, the Fremont Police Department confirmed, reported gujaratsamachar.com.

According to officials, officers responded to a 911 call at 11:57 am reporting a violent altercation at a residence on the 600 block of Upper Vintners Circle. When they arrived, they found Brimmer unresponsive with multiple stab wounds. Despite immediate trauma care, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators allege that Suresh specifically sought out registered sex offenders as victims, disguising himself before the assault. Evidence indicates he chased Brimmer into a nearby home during the attack.

Police said Suresh tracked Brimmer through California’s sex offender registry and carried out a premeditated attack

Police recovered the weapon and arrested Suresh at the scene. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to the killing, telling detectives the act was “honestly really fun” and that he wanted to “send him to the gates.”

Suresh now faces multiple charges under California Penal Code, including:

  • 187(a): Murder
  • 12022: Armed individual causing great bodily injury
  • 459: Residential burglary

Authorities stressed that this was an isolated incident with no further threat to the community. This case marks Fremont’s fifth homicide of 2025. The matter has been referred to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
