An Indian-origin man faced widespread backlash after admitting to a British CEO that he deliberately avoids working with women, sparking an intense debate on gender equality in the workplace, reported indiatoday.in.

Outdated remark draws criticism online

Louisa Klouda, CEO of Fenchurch Legal, took to LinkedIn to expose Nirmal Patel, sharing a screenshot of their conversation that highlighted his outdated mindset. When Louisa reached out to schedule a Teams call, Nirmal’s response was both dismissive and inappropriate. He not only refused to work with her but also ended his message with, “be well, sweetheart.”

“I tend not to work with women” – an archaic mindset in 2025

Louisa’s LinkedIn post highlighted the absurdity of such beliefs in today’s world. She wrote, “Well, I woke up today and learned something groundbreaking: Some people still think women shouldn’t be in business. Wild. It’s 2025, we’ve got AI writing novels, people vacationing in space, and yet, here we are.”

She further reinforced her stance with a powerful message, stating, “As a woman in business, I could let outdated thinking get me down, but instead, I’ll do what women have been doing for centuries—keep succeeding, keep breaking barriers, and keep proving that competence has NO gender.” She encouraged professionals to continue making strides in their careers despite such biases.

LinkedIn users rally behind Louisa’s bold stance

Louisa’s decision to name and shame Nirmal Patel gained significant traction, with thousands of LinkedIn users applauding her for exposing workplace discrimination. The viral post reignited discussions on gender bias and workplace equality, with many calling for a shift in mindset to foster inclusivity and equal opportunities for all professionals.
