Oklahoma resident Sai Kumar Kurremula used Snapchat to target minors, faces lifetime supervision after release
In a severe sentencing reflecting the gravity of his crimes, Sai Kumar Kurremula, a 31-year-old Indian-origin man from Edmond, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 35 years (420 months) in federal prison for sexually exploiting minors and transporting child pornography, the US Attorney’s Office announced, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
Kurremula deceived and threatened minors through Snapchat to obtain explicit content
According to investigators, Kurremula posed as a teenager on Snapchat, luring at least 19 minors into sending explicit content. When victims resisted, he resorted to threats, including violence and public humiliation, to coerce them into compliance. The FBI launched an investigation in 2023, leading to his arrest.

Court hands down maximum sentence for disturbing crimes
At his sentencing on March 27, 2025, US District Judge Charles Goodwin imposed a 35-year prison sentence, followed by lifetime supervised release.
US Attorney Robert J. Troester said the harsh sentence was warranted and serves as a warning to offenders who prey on children. FBI Oklahoma City Special Agent in Charge Doug Goodwater added that Kurremula’s actions caused irreparable harm, robbing his victims of their innocence and safety.
Authorities emphasized that online platforms are increasingly misused for such exploitation, and ongoing collaboration between federal agencies is crucial to combatting such crimes.
