Abhay Nayak caused chaos aboard EasyJet flight, forcing it to land; remanded to judicial custody, faces aviation safety charges
A 41-year-old Indian-origin man, Abhay Devdas Nayak, was arrested after causing panic on board an EasyJet flight from Luton Airport in London to Glasgow on July 27. The flight was forced to make an emergency landing after Nayak allegedly shouted threats and attempted to bomb the aircraft, sparking alarm among passengers and crew, reported indiatvnews.com.
In widely circulated videos on social media, Nayak can be heard yelling “death to America,” “death to Trump,” and “Allahu Akbar” before being overpowered by fellow passengers. Scotland Police were alerted and responded to the disturbance upon the plane’s arrival in Glasgow at around 8:20 am.

Following his arrest, Nayak was produced at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday and remanded to judicial custody until his next court appearance. Authorities have confirmed that no terrorism charges have been filed at this stage. Instead, he is being prosecuted under the UK Air Navigation Order, which includes charges of recklessly or negligently endangering an aircraft or its passengers.
Police Statement: “We believe the incident to be contained and that nobody else was involved. We are aware of videos circulating online and these are being assessed by counter-terrorism officers,” Scotland Police said in a statement, as reported by PTI.
EasyJet Response: In an official statement, the airline confirmed Nayak’s removal due to his behaviour. “We can confirm that a passenger was removed by police due to disruptive behaviour, and we are assisting authorities with their enquiries,” said the airline.
The investigation remains ongoing as counter-terrorism officers continue to assess the incident, though officials maintain that the threat was isolated.
