Chandra Arya, an Indian-origin Member of Parliament from Nepean, has officially filed his nomination for the race to become Canada’s next Prime Minister. Arya, originally from Tumkur district in Karnataka, addressed the House in Kannada while announcing his candidacy, reflecting his deep connection to his roots , reported gujaratsamachar.com.

Arya aims to address Canada’s “structural challenges” with bold political decisions to rebuild the nation and ensure prosperity for future generations.

Chandra Arya is running for leadership of the Liberal Party following the announcement by current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to step down once a new leader is chosen. Arya’s campaign centers on making Canada a sovereign republic and tackling key issues like economic disparity, affordability for younger generations, and the struggles of the working middle class.

A bold vision for Canada’s future

In a post on social media platform X, Arya said, “We are facing significant structural problems that haven’t been seen for generations. Solving them requires tough choices. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we must make bold decisions.”

Arya, who holds an MBA from Dharwad, has consistently voiced support for India-Canada relations. He has condemned incidents like the defacing of Hindu temples and celebrations by Khalistan supporters of the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Arya also believes India is a critical market for Canada’s exports and a key source of skilled talent.

In a statement, Arya outlined his vision: “Canada deserves leadership that makes big decisions to rebuild our economy, restore hope, and create equal opportunities for all Canadians. Bold political decisions are not optional – they are necessary.”

Arya met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi last year, discussing the significance of strengthening bilateral ties. If elected, Arya promises to lead a government focused on efficiency, economic growth, and equal opportunity for all Canadians.
