A 37-year-old man, Rumon Haque, from Royton in Oldham, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article following the stabbing of Indian-origin nurse Achamma Cherian. The incident occurred on January 11 at the Acute Medical Unit of the Royal Oldham Hospital, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
The Greater Manchester Police reported that Rumon Haque attacked Cherian with a pair of scissors, stabbing her in the neck. Cherian, a dedicated nurse and mother of two, is currently receiving treatment for what authorities have described as life-changing injuries.
Haque has been remanded into custody and is set to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court. The incident has sent shockwaves through the medical community and has raised concerns about the safety of healthcare professionals.
