Vickreman Harvey Chettiar sentenced for threatening violence against Singapore’s former President
An Indian-origin Singaporean, Vickreman Harvey Chettiar, was sentenced to 10 months and 12 weeks in jail after pleading guilty to three harassment charges, including a threatening Instagram post calling for the death of then-President Halimah Yacob, reported etvbharat.com.
Chettiar’s disturbing behavior included threats of violence against multiple figures
Vickreman, 34, admitted to fabricating false evidence and faced 14 other charges, including harassment. He made the threatening Instagram post on April 30, 2023, expressing anger over executions of drug traffickers, which are mandated by Singapore’s law.
Following the post, he was charged and imposed with stringent bail conditions that prohibited him from using social media.
Despite this, he continued to make threats, including one to a judge involved in his case. He also made a false report about his e-mail being compromised and failed to attend court hearings, leading to his arrest on April 5, 2024.
