New Delhi: Shivani Raja, an Indian-origin MP, took her oath on the Bhagwat Gita after winning the Leicester East seat.

In a post on social media, Raja expressed her pride in swearing allegiance to King Charles on the Gita.

Raja, born in Leicester to parents of Indian and Kenyan origin, is involved in her family’s property and hospitality business.

She mentioned that the community viewed her as a relatable and fresh candidate, especially after previous MPs failed to represent Leicester during the 2022 riots.
