To manage the expected surge in passengers during the festive season, the Ministry of Railways has rolled out a new Round Trip Package for Festival Rush scheme, starting August 14. The initiative aims to streamline bookings and maximize train capacity during peak travel periods, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

Passengers booking round-trip tickets between October 13–26 (onward) and November 17–December 1 (return) will receive a 20% discount on the base fare of the return journey, provided both legs are booked together for the same passengers, class, and route.

The scheme requires confirmed tickets in both directions, booked through the same mode—either online or at reservation counters

It is valid for all train classes and includes special trains, but excludes flexi fare trains. No refunds or modifications will be permitted, and no additional fare will be collected at the time of chart preparation.

Railway officials say the scheme is designed to reduce congestion, ensure smoother travel, and encourage advance planning during the festive rush. Software updates and coordination with IRCTC and CRIS are already underway to ensure seamless implementation.
