Indian student fatally struck by speeding car in the US; family appeals for support

Sowmya’s family, including her parents Koteswara Rao and Balamani, are appealing for assistance to repatriate her body to India for the final rites

Guntipalli Sowmya, a 25-year-old from Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, tragically lost her life in the United States after being hit by a speeding car on Sunday.

Sowmya, who had recently completed her master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University, was actively seeking employment through a consultancy, her brother Sai informed Deccan Chronicle. Just days after celebrating her twenty-fifth birthday on May 11, Sowmya went out to buy groceries.

On her way back to her residence, she was struck from behind by a speeding vehicle, resulting in her immediate death.

The local police are currently investigating the incident. Sowmya’s family, including her parents Koteswara Rao and Balamani, are appealing for assistance to repatriate her body to India for the final rites.
