Days After Disappearance: Vanshika, daughter of AAP leader, was reported missing in Ottawa under mysterious circumstances
An Indian student in Canada, Vanshika, who had been missing for four days, was tragically found dead under mysterious circumstances, the Indian High Commission in Ottawa confirmed, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
Grief and shock as family and community mourn loss
Vanshika, daughter of Devinder Singh, an AAP leader from Dera Bassi, Punjab, had been living in Ottawa for the past two and a half years pursuing higher studies. She disappeared on April 25, 2025, after leaving her residence at 7 Majestic Drive around 8–9 p.m. to view a rental room. Her phone was switched off later that night at approximately 11:40 p.m., and she missed an important exam the next day — an act her friends described as completely out of character.
High Commission assures full cooperation, investigation underway.
The High Commission of India expressed deep sorrow and stated: “We are deeply saddened to be informed of the death of Ms. Vanshika. The matter has been taken up with the concerned authorities, and the cause is under investigation by local police. We are in close contact with the bereaved family and community groups to provide all possible assistance.”
A letter sent to Ottawa Police by the Hindu Community in Ottawa had previously detailed the growing anxiety over Vanshika’s disappearance and called for urgent intervention. The community highlighted the urgency and seriousness of the case, urging authorities to allocate necessary resources for her safe return — hopes that now remain unfulfilled.
The incident has left the Indian diaspora in Canada in deep distress, with calls for a transparent and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
