An Indian student from Kerala, Albin Shinto, is feared to have drowned while swimming in the Jugla canal in Riga, Latvia. According to a local Latvian news source, Albin was swimming with four friends on July 18 when he began to struggle in the water.

In an attempt to save him, two of Albin’s friends also found themselves in danger.

A nearby fisherman, witnessing the distress, managed to rescue the friends using his boat. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Albin could not be saved.

Rescue teams and police were quickly dispatched to the scene, initiating a search operation. However, the search was halted due to fading daylight.

The authorities initially indicated that the search would resume the following day but later clarified that it would continue on Monday due to resource constraints necessary for extensive search operations.
