Edmonton, Alberta:
A tragic incident has left the Indian community in Canada in mourning as 20-year-old Harshandeep Singh, an Indian student working as a security guard, was fatally shot in Edmonton, Alberta. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 6, 2024, around 12:30 a.m., at Singh’s apartment on 106 Street and 107 Avenue.
Police responding to reports of gunfire discovered Singh unresponsive in the building’s stairwell. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead. Investigators have since arrested two suspects, 30-year-olds Evan Rain and Judith Saulteaux, who have been charged with first-degree murder. A weapon connected to the crime has also been recovered.

Disturbing CCTV footage purportedly captured the violent act, showing Singh being thrown down a staircase before being shot. Although the footage appears to show three attackers, Edmonton Police Service (EPS) clarified that no additional suspects are being sought at this time.
The EPS released Singh’s identity to reassure the public and aid the ongoing investigation. Homicide Section detectives are working to establish the events that led to the fatal shooting. An autopsy is scheduled for December 9, 2024, to confirm details of the death.
