The United States continues to solidify its position as the top choice for Indian students pursuing higher education abroad. With its esteemed universities, diverse cultural milieu, and expansive academic opportunities, the U.S. has seen a remarkable surge in enrollment by Indian students, marking a 35% increase in the academic year 2022-23 alone, financialexpress.com reported.

The report quoted Sachin Jain, Country Manager – India & South Asia at ETS, highlights the allure of American universities, renowned for their academic excellence and the plethora of learning and employment prospects they offer. Programs such as M.S. and MBA are particularly sought after among Indian students, driving them to comprise the largest international cohort in U.S. institutions.

A key attraction of the U.S. education system is the Optional Practical Training (OPT), providing students with temporary employment directly aligned with their field of study. This initiative, offering up to 12 months of employment authorization, serves as a crucial pathway for gaining practical experience.

The report also quoted Manisha Zaveri, Joint Managing Director of Career Mosaic. She underscored the enduring appeal of U.S. universities, emphasizing their capacity to attract students seeking quality education and diverse opportunities. This sentiment is echoed in the rising trend of Indian students, evidenced by a significant increase in applications from various regions across the country.

With its diverse array of institutions and commitment to quality education, the U.S. remains unrivaled in fostering cultural exchange, innovation, and personal growth on a global scale

Saurabh Arora, CEO & Founder of University Living, emphasizes the inclusive learning environment of U.S. institutions, which empowers students to pursue their aspirations and shape a brighter future. Despite burgeoning interest in alternative destinations, the ‘US Dream’ remains predominant among Indian students, particularly in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, AP, Telangana, and southern regions.

Pallavi Sharma, Regional Advisor – International Admissions at DePaul University, underscores the multifaceted appeal of the U.S., citing its robust academic landscape, scholarship opportunities, and post-study work options through programs like OPT. These attributes, coupled with a transformative multicultural experience, position the U.S. as the quintessential study abroad destination.

As the inclination towards studying abroad intensifies among Indian students, the volume of business is projected to soar. According to the Indian Student Mobility Report 2023-24 by University Living, an estimated 300,000 Indian students are anticipated to pursue education abroad by 2025, investing substantially in their academic pursuits. With its diverse array of institutions and commitment to quality education, the U.S. remains unrivaled in fostering cultural exchange, innovation, and personal growth on a global scale.
