A disturbing incident has come to light from the Sadakhlo border crossing between Georgia and Armenia, where an Indian traveller alleged that 56 Indians were subjected to “inhuman treatment” by Georgian authorities, reported gujaratsamachar.com.

Travellers detained for hours without food or washrooms, claims viral post.

Dhruvee Patel, an Indian national, shared on Instagram that despite holding valid e-visas and documents, the group was detained for over five hours in freezing weather without access to basic facilities such as food or washrooms. Their passports were allegedly confiscated for more than two hours, with no explanation from border officials.

Patel further claimed the group was forced to sit on the roadside “like cattle” while Georgian authorities filmed them but prohibited them from recording anything in return.

“The authorities did not even check our documents properly and simply claimed the visas were wrong,” she wrote, calling the treatment “shameful and unacceptable.”

She urged the Indian government and the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene strongly in the matter. Her post has since gone viral, sparking outrage and debate on social media. Many users demanded accountability from Georgian authorities and stronger measures to ensure the safety of Indian travellers abroad.
