Ameena Begum, a 24-year-old resident of Hyderabad’s Kishan Bagh area, thought she was heading to Dubai for a promising job at a beauty parlour. But her life took a sudden and devastating turn when she was arrested upon arrival at the Dubai airport for allegedly carrying narcotics in her luggage, reported hindustantimes.com.

According to a report by India Today, Ameena left India on May 18, 2025, after being offered a job by a local travel agent. Her family now claims she was unknowingly used as a drug mule.

Family turns to Indian Embassy for support amid emotional and legal turmoil
The family has also reached out to the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai, seeking legal assistance to secure Ameena’s release. They have demanded that the authorities investigate the travel agent who arranged the job, suspecting foul play.
Meanwhile, back home, Ameena’s 5-year-old son has reportedly fallen sick due to emotional distress. “He is crying too much for his mother,” the letter from Sultana says.
Ameena’s family maintains she is innocent and a victim of deceit, caught in a trap she had no part in setting.
