The Indian women’s Kho Kho team kicked off their Kho Kho World Cup 2025 campaign in spectacular fashion, securing a massive 175-18 victory over South Korea at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The ‘Women in Blue’ showcased extraordinary skill, blending dynamic attack runs and solid defense strategies to overwhelm their opponents, reported ddnews.gov.in.

A commanding start and relentless attack

The match was led by Chaithra B, Meeru, and captain Priyanka Ingle, who all initiated dream runs that helped India gain an early advantage. The first two batches earned points, strategically neutralizing the 10 touchpoints South Korea secured in the first turn. With momentum on their side, India went on the offensive, launching a series of rapid attacks.

In a remarkable 90-second period, Nasreen Shaikh, Priyanka Ingle, and Reshma Rathod each achieved an all-out victory, pushing the score to 24. Within 18 seconds, India achieved a fourth all-out, extending their lead by 22 points.

Resounding dominance and a flawless defense

Reshma Rathod excelled with six touchpoints, while Meenu contributed 12 points through Other Dives, propelling India to a commanding 94-10 score by the end of Turn 2. The intensity of the match remained high, with India’s dominance continuing in Turn 3, where they added three more points via a dream run. South Korea managed only eight points in the second innings of Turn 3. The final turn saw India maintain their superior play, denying South Korea any chance to recover.

The match concluded with India clinching a resounding 175-18 victory, sending a clear message to their group rivals as they progress to the next stages of the tournament.
