An Indian national working at London Zoo is facing deportation after being convicted of stalking a former female colleague, bombarding her with messages, flowers, and chocolates before repeatedly proposing to her, reported livemint.com.

The accused, 26-year-old Asish Jose Paul, was arrested multiple times for breaching bail conditions and repeatedly returning to the zoo despite restraining orders

Originally from Kerala, Paul studied for a Master’s degree in accounting and finance at Anglia Ruskin University between 2022 and 2023. He met the victim, Lutaruta Masiulonyte, while working in the zoo’s café.

The harassment began in 2024, between July and December, after Masiulonyte blocked him.

Even after police warnings and bail conditions prohibiting him from entering the Borough of Westminster or contacting the victim, Paul repeatedly returned to London Zoo, claiming he was “in love.” This defiance led to further arrests.

At Southwark Crown Court, Paul received a six-month prison sentence suspended for twelve months, along with a ten-year restraining order and a requirement to complete 20 days of rehabilitation activities. The court also heard he could face deportation following his conviction.
