A protest by pro-Khalistan supporters outside the Indian High Commission in London on Sunday was met with a powerful counter-protest by the Indian diaspora. As Khalistani demonstrators rallied against the Indian government, waving banners and chanting slogans, Indian supporters stood firm, raising the tricolour and chanting “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.

Khalistani protesters met with strong nationalist response

The pro-Khalistan demonstrators accused the Indian government of human rights violations in Punjab and discrimination against Sikh communities, calling for the creation of a separate Sikh state. However, their actions were countered by a large group of Indian expatriates who came together in unity, defending India’s sovereignty and democratic values.

The two groups were kept apart by a significant police presence, ensuring that tensions did not escalate into violence

Republic Day celebrations continue undeterred

One Indian supporter told ANI, “Vande Bharat! Bharat Mata ki Jai! We came here for the 76th Republic Day celebrations. When we stepped outside after the flag hoisting, we saw Khalistani demonstrators disrespecting our National Flag. We want to send a message that we are not affected by their actions.”

Another Indian participant at the protest stated, “We had gathered at the High Commission for Republic Day. We saw some Khalistanis trying to insult our national flag. But their actions do not impact us or our nation. Though we are fewer in number here, our spirit is stronger than theirs. We will stand for India till our last breath.”

The Indian diaspora’s strong response reaffirmed their commitment to national pride, countering separatist voices with unity and patriotic fervor.
