A global poll conducted by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), in collaboration with Oxford University’s Europe in a Changing World project, reveals that most Indians view Donald Trump’s potential second term as US President as a positive development for world peace and US-India ties, reported millenniumpost.in.

India categorized as “Trump Welcomers” in the global survey

The survey highlights that respondents in India, along with those in countries like China, Turkey, and Brazil, see Trump’s return to the White House as beneficial not only for the US but also for their own nations and global peace.

The report, titled Alone in a Trumpian World: The EU and Global Public Opinion after the US Elections, categorizes India among the “Trump Welcomers,” indicating optimism about his leadership.

Perception of Trump 2.0 globally and implications for India

According to the study, countries like India and others in the “Trump Welcomers” group believe Trump’s presidency could foster stronger bilateral relationships and benefit their interests. This sentiment contrasts with more skeptical views in certain European nations, where concerns about his leadership style and policies persist.

The survey reflects India’s perception of Trump as a leader who aligns with its strategic and diplomatic priorities, potentially bolstering bilateral relations and cooperation in areas like trade, defense, and technology.
