India’s ISRO to develop space tourism capabilities

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister said that the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) had also sought to promote active participation of the private sector in carrying out end-to-end space activities, which also included space tourism.

New Delhi:  Indian Minister Jitendra Singh said that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) would develop capabilities to provide space tourism through the demonstration of human space flight capability to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), reported PTI.

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister said that the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) had also sought to promote active participation of the private sector in carrying out end-to-end space activities, which also included space tourism.

The minister also said ISRO was involved in international cooperation and relations with 61 countries in varied domains of space activities. IN-SPACe was a single window agency under the Department of Space to promote, handhold and authorise the activities of the private sector

in the space domain.
