Indiaspora G20 Forum speakers put emphasis on India’s exceptional growth trajectory

The culmination of the Indiaspora G20 Forum witnessed an insightful keynote addresses delivered by Dr TV Somanathan, Finance Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and Muktesh Pardeshi, Special Secretary for G20 Operations in India.

Dr Somanathan, in his address, emphasized India’s exceptional growth trajectory, surpassing even the top four global economies—the United States, China, Japan, and Germany. He highlighted that India’s growth rate has outpaced these economies, and it’s becoming increasingly evident that India is set to maintain this growth advantage in the foreseeable future.

He further underlined that India represented an unparalleled development opportunity. The sheer magnitude of its growth potential, the difference between its current state and its projected progress, positions India as the most significant development prospect of the future.

Dr Somanathan reiterated that India’s rapid growth, coupled with its substantial size, distinguishes it as a focal point for global attention and investment.

Muktesh Pardeshi, Special Secretary for G20 Operations in India, reflected on the strategic significance of India’s soft power and diaspora. He cited Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar’s remarks on how the G20 platform positions India to be ready for the world and vice versa, emphasizing the vital role of soft power in shaping these interactions

The keynote speeches sparked a series of dynamic panel discussions and breakout sessions, featuring influential figures such asArun Kumar, Managing Partner of Celesta and a member of the Indiaspora Board in the US; Tim Thomas, CEO of The Centre for Australia-India Relations in Australia; Warsha Sharon Sardjoe MBA, CEO of RUDISA Group of Companies in Suriname; Goldy Hyder, President & CEO of the Business Council of Canada in Canada, Dr Mohammed Althaf, Director of Lulu Group International in Qatar; and Vikas Swarup, Former Secretary (West) & Novelist in India, among others.

These discussions delved into topics like cross-border trade, bolstering soft power, fostering innovation and social responsibility, and celebrating India’s remarkable journey.

The concluding day of the forum encapsulated profound insights from various dignitaries who underscored the pivotal role of innovation in investments, the importance of resilience in both work and personal spheres, and the transformative potential of technology in uplifting communities and driving socio-economic progress.
