Families appeal for swift government intervention after distressing video surfaces
Three young men from Punjab—residents of Sangrur, SBS Nagar, and Hoshiarpur—were kidnapped in Iran while attempting to travel to Australia on work permits. They had left Delhi and were routed through Iran by an agent who promised to take them via the Dubai-Iran pathway, reported gujaratsamachar.com.
Families receive video of youths tied up; kidnappers demand up to ₹1 crore ransom.
The trio has been missing since May 1, shortly after they landed in Iran. According to the victims’ families, the agent assured them that Iran was a short stopover before their final destination in Australia.
A shocking video surfaced showing the three tied up, and ransom demands ranging from ₹55 lakh to ₹1 crore were made
The Indian Embassy in Iran has been alerted and is coordinating with local police and authorities to locate the missing youths. One of the mothers, Balwinder Kaur, whose son Husanpreet is among the kidnapped, said, “My son has been cheated in the name of sending him to Australia. We appeal to the government to bring back all the missing youths safely.” The families have urged the central government for immediate action.
