Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence faces confirmation hearing amid renewed debates about her ancestry
Tulsi Gabbard, President Donald Trump’s nominee for the role of Director of National Intelligence, is undergoing a confirmation hearing before US senators. As the first Hindu to lead America’s intelligence agencies, she is expected to be questioned about her past foreign policy views and qualifications for the role. Amid her rising prominence, speculation about her ancestry has once again surfaced, reported timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
Tulsi Gabbard denies Indian origin despite practicing Hinduism, reported timesofindia.com.
Tulsi Gabbard’s mother, Carol Porter Gabbard, developed an interest in Hinduism, leading her to give all her children Hindu names—Bhakti, Jai, Aryan, Tulsi, and Vrindavan. Tulsi herself is a devout Hindu and has been seen chanting Hare Krishna in old videos that have resurfaced since her appointment.

Hillary Clinton once accused Gabbard of being a Russian agent
For most of her political career, Gabbard was a Democrat. However, in 2022, she left the party, criticizing it as an “elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness.” Shortly before the election, she endorsed Donald Trump and aligned with the Republican administration while maintaining her strong anti-war stance.
During her 2019 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton indirectly accused Gabbard of being a Russian asset, claiming that an unnamed Democratic primary candidate was being “groomed” to run as a third-party candidate favored by Russia.
Gabbard hit back at Clinton in a scathing tweet, calling her the “queen of warmongers” and the “embodiment of corruption.” She later accused Clinton and her allies in the corporate media of deliberately trying to destroy her reputation, stating, “We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know—it was always you.”
