Currently India’s Ambassador to Spain, Khobragade will also serve as Ambassador to Andorra with residence in Madrid
The Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday announced that Jayant Khobragade (IFS: 1995), presently serving as the Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Spain, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to the Principality of Andorra.
He will continue to reside in Madrid while carrying out his responsibilities for Andorra.
Khobragade is expected to assume the additional charge of his new assignment shortly, the MEA confirmed
A seasoned diplomat with decades of service, Khobragade has held several important positions in India’s foreign service. His concurrent accreditation reflects New Delhi’s diplomatic practice of managing relations with smaller European nations through ambassadors posted in nearby capitals.
This step underlines India’s continued efforts to strengthen bilateral engagement with Andorra in areas of mutual interest, including tourism, culture, and economic cooperation, while further deepening the India–Spain relationship under Khobragade’s stewardship.
