India has opened registrations for JEE Advanced 2026 for foreign nationals and OCI/PIO candidates, providing a major opportunity for students from the Indian diaspora to access premier engineering education.

The application window, which began on April 6, will remain open until early May. Eligible candidates who have qualified through JEE Main can now apply for admission to India’s top Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

The move reflects India’s efforts to internationalise its higher education system and attract global talent, including students of Indian origin living abroad

For diaspora families, the development offers an alternative pathway to high-quality education in India, often at a lower cost compared to Western institutions.

Education experts say the inclusion of foreign and OCI candidates strengthens academic diversity and global engagement within Indian institutions.

However, applicants must navigate eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and competitive exam standards.

The initiative highlights the growing role of India as an education destination for the diaspora.
