Dr Arathi Krishna, the deputy chairperson of the Karnataka NRI Forum, recently discussed various initiatives and challenges facing Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) on Daijiworld TV’s ‘Walkie-Talkie’. She highlighted several key initiatives, including the provision of insurance for blue-collar workers and the establishment of a Karnataka NRI database to aid in times of distress.

Under her leadership, Dr Arathi emphasized plans to organize ‘Pravasi Kannadiga Divas’ to unite Karnataka NRIs and dispel misconceptions about their economic status. She proposed issuing NRK cards, providing insurance for job loss, and offering interest-free loans for business ventures and cultural programs abroad.

Reflecting on her efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Arathi shared her experiences in facilitating the return of stranded NRIs, including students and tribal members, and her interventions in cases involving Indian citizens being scammed abroad.

Dr Arathi, who serves as AICC secretary for the Indian Overseas Congress, expressed her commitment to public service, citing her background and familial political legacy. She pledged to continue advocating for NRIs’ rights and welfare, regardless of her ministerial status.
