Persistence finally paid off for Dubai-based Indian expat Bonny Thomas, who struck gold—literally—after five years of buying Big Ticket entries. The 31-year-old from Kerala won a 250gm 24K gold bar in Big Ticket’s weekly e-draw, turning his long streak of hope into a glittering reality, reported gulfnews.com.

Bonny, who works as a coordinating officer in Dubai, received the surprise call from Big Ticket host Richard announcing his win with ticket number 001009. Initially skeptical, he thought it was a prank. “Yes, I bought a ticket… you want to surprise me?” he said cautiously. But once he recognized Richard’s iconic voice, disbelief quickly gave way to sheer excitement. “Oh my God… is it true?” he exclaimed repeatedly during the live call.

Family, teamwork, and a golden surprise

A Dubai resident since 2017, Bonny discovered Big Ticket through social media and has been participating regularly with a group of friends. “I’m sharing this ticket with five others—they’re all my colleagues,” he revealed, underscoring the team effort behind the lucky win.

What made the moment even more special was Bonny’s surprise at learning about the weekly draw. “I only knew about the grand prize draws. So imagine my shock when I got the call,” he said. “The rush of adrenaline was incredible.”

As for his plans, Bonny said he and his group will share the prize and keep playing. “To others I’d say: don’t lose hope. Your turn might be next,” he added with a smile.
