New regulations allow residency transfer from family sponsorship to private sector employment
Kuwait’s Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has introduced updated residency transfer rules for expatriates aged 60 and above. Under the new regulations, those holding a secondary school certificate or lower can now transfer their residency from family sponsorship (Article 22) to private sector work residency (Article 18) , reported mathrubhumi.com.
Government Contract Workers Can Now Shift to Private Sector Jobs
In another key change, PAM has approved a provision allowing workers previously employed under government contracts to transition into private sector jobs. As reported by Arab Times, this move is contingent on the completion of their government contracts and requires mutual agreement between the current and prospective employers.
Labour Force Statistics for 2024 Highlight Job Market Trends
PAM has also released its latest labour force statistics, revealing that 31,391 job seekers are currently registered under Kuwait’s national labour sector
The data includes 27 PhD holders, 629 individuals with master’s degrees, and 17,927 with bachelor’s degrees. Additionally, 6,805 job seekers have diplomas, while 823 possess intermediate-level qualifications.
A total of 83 individuals have vocational or parallel education, and 408 fall under the below-intermediate category. Others have specialised training or relevant work experience.
