However, the case has also reignited broader discussions around the regulation of online betting, gambling promotions, and the role of social media personalities in amplifying such platforms
The spotlight has recently shifted from social media glamour to investigative scrutiny for YouTuber and influencer Anurag Dwivedi, after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches linked to an alleged illegal betting and gambling case. Dwivedi, 26, who hails from Khajur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, has found himself at the center of national attention following a series of enforcement actions by the central agency.
According to official sources, the ED carried out search operations at 10 locations across Lucknow, Unnao, and Delhi. These premises were reportedly associated with Dwivedi and individuals linked to him. The searches are part of an ongoing investigation into suspected financial irregularities connected to unlawful betting and gambling activities. Authorities are examining money trails, asset acquisitions, and possible violations of financial laws.
The enforcement action comes just weeks after Dwivedi’s name was widely discussed for very different reasons. His wedding, reportedly held in Dubai, had drawn considerable attention in his home village and beyond. The event was described as lavish, with multiple family members flown to the UAE for the celebrations. For many residents of Khajur village, the scale of the wedding symbolized the influencer’s rapid rise and apparent financial success through digital platforms.
Investigators are now reportedly assessing assets believed to be worth around Rs 20 crore, including four luxury cars allegedly linked to Dwivedi. While the agency has not publicly detailed the ownership structure or sources of funds, officials are said to be scrutinizing whether the assets were acquired through legitimate income streams or linked to illegal activities
It is important to note that the investigation is ongoing, and no final conclusions have been announced by the ED. As with all such cases, the allegations will be tested through due legal process. For now, the developments mark a sharp turn in the public narrative surrounding a young influencer whose lifestyle had recently captured widespread attention, underscoring how quickly online fame can intersect with serious legal scrutiny.
