Indian investigators are closely tracking an Indian-origin British citizen linked to a Dubai-based drug cartel following the seizure of a massive cocaine consignment in India, hindustantimes.com reported.
The ongoing investigation has uncovered a network orchestrated by Virender Basoiya, an alleged cartel mastermind operating from Dubai, responsible for smuggling nearly 1,300 kg of cocaine into India.
Among those involved, two men—Jitender Pal Singh Gill and Savinder Singh—were apprehended for handling large cocaine shipments sent to India by the cartel. A third man, also from the UK, is under scrutiny, but his identity remains undisclosed pending verification. This individual was reportedly sent to oversee a 518kg consignment of cocaine, seized at a pharmaceutical factory in Gujarat. The drugs were stored and processed in exchange for a hefty sum, with the three directors of Aavkar Drugs Pvt Ltd allegedly promised ₹1 crore per consignment.
Investigators believe that at least two more major cocaine shipments were trafficked through Gujarat-based pharmaceutical companies earlier this year, with one 100kg consignment making its way to Punjab via Delhi
Authorities have arrested 12 individuals so far, including Amit Bhai, the middleman between the UK resident and the pharmaceutical company directors. Mayur Desale, the production head at the factory, also faces charges for processing the illegal substances.
The drug syndicate has been under investigation for months, culminating in a series of raids that led to the confiscation of a staggering 1,288 kg of cocaine from locations in Delhi and Gujarat. These seizures include 562kg nabbed in Mahipalpur on October 1 and 208kg found hidden in snack packets in Ramesh Nagar on October 10.
