Mauritius is not only preparing to welcome more visitors from India but also aiming to provide memorable experiences that encourage repeat travel and long-term tourism growth
Mauritius got a major push from Indian travellers in 2025 boosting strengthen cultural and economic ties while diversifying its tourism base. To boost tourism, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) has outlined a detailed plan to make the island the top choice for visitors from India, with a particular focus on luxury experiences and seamless travel.
The strategy recognises that Indian travellers have diverse preferences, from families and honeymooners to corporate groups. Tailored marketing campaigns are being designed to meet these varying needs, highlighting the island’s natural beauty, world-class resorts, and cultural connections that make visitors feel welcome and at home.
Safety, easy visa-on-arrival procedures, and accessibility are also central to the promotional effort, ensuring a smooth travel experience for all
A key part of the plan is improving connectivity. The MTPA is working closely with major airlines to increase direct flights from India’s leading cities, making travel more convenient and reducing journey times. Non-stop services are being expanded to meet the growing demand, recognising that ease of travel is a deciding factor for many Indian tourists.
By combining high-end hospitality, strategic marketing, and improved air links, Mauritius expects a substantial rise in Indian visitor numbers in 2025. Officials see the year as a turning point to cement the island’s position as a preferred destination for Indian tourists, offering them both familiarity and a touch of exotic luxury.
